Proposal to name the Kowhai Park Rose Gardens

Council together with the Feilding and District Rose Society are seeking feedback on the proposal to name the Kowhai Park Rose Gardens “The Mason Family Rose Gardens”.

The Mason Family have been synonymous with Roses in Feilding and throughout New Zealand for over 100 years, with Frank Mason establishing a rose and plant nursery with horse and plough in Feilding in 1912. Alan Mason, Franks son, later took over the reins from Frank, successfully running “Frank Mason and Son” as a nationally renowned rose supplier in Feilding for many years.

The proposal to name the Kowhai Park Rose Gardens “The Mason Family Rose Gardens”, is a fitting acknowledgement of the significant contribution the family have made to the rose sector, being recognised nationally and internationally for their contributions.

The naming proposal relates to the Rose Gardens at Kowhai Park only.
